How To Measure
Your Garage Door
Are you needing measurements for your garage door to have a new one installed? Are you curious on how to do that with accuracy? Let us help with that by following our How-To guide. If you have further questions, please contact us.
Measure the width of your garage door at it's widest point. The garage door should be framed with 2" x 6" wood and it's important to look for any irregularities.
Measure the height of your garage door at it's highest point. Also be sure to look for any irregularities such as uneven flooring.
Next, measure the width of the areas that are beside the garage door opening. Up to 5" is important to have and required on each side for the vertical track.
Also, don't forget to measure the door opening at the top and the ceiling.
The last step requires that you measure the opening to the back of the garage. If you are going with a section garage door, it requires the door height plus an extra 18". And, if you are going with an electronic opener, it's important that it has enough room for the door height plus 4'2".
